Jenzabar Expands Client Relationships with e-Portfolio Solution
Implementations Expand Web-based Services for Students and Faculty
Cambridge, MA — October 24, 2005 — Jenzabar, Inc., the pioneer of Total Campus Management (TCM) solutions for higher education, today announced that Park University has contracted for Folio by ePortaro™, the e-portfolio solution provided through Jenzabar’s partnership with ePortaro, the leading provider of enterprise-level electronic portfolio systems. This is the first of several scheduled Folio implementations at Jenzabar client institutions, including Columbia College Chicago and the University of Mary. Folio by ePortaro™, the state-of-the-art portfolio solution for institutions of higher education, enhances the collegiate experience by enabling portfolio owners to demonstrate their skills, competencies, personality and mastery to third parties over the Internet. In combination with Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution (JICS) Web portal, Folio by ePortaro™ provides a rich set of capabilities to support student portfolios from admissions through their academic careers to post-graduation professional development. This expanded functionality builds on Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management framework for comprehensive constituent services.
The e–portfolio functionality is a key enhancement to Park University’s student services. As an institution that maintains 42 campus centers nationwide serving more than 24,000 students, Park’s online services are central to the institution’s mission. “We are constantly looking at ways to improve the student experience and we have been pleased with Jenzabar’s ongoing initiative to expand and augment its administrative, academic and portal capabilities, which helps us raise our own bar for the services we provide,” said Sara Freeman, Park University’s Chief Information Officer. “With a large portion of our student body participating via the Internet, our services must be able to support students, faculty and staff wherever they are. This solution gives students the capability to collect and present their work through the portal we’ve created with Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution.” Park looks at their Folio implementation as an enterprise solution that will likely extend beyond its use by students and faculty.
Electronic portfolios are powerful collaboration and sharing tools for students, faculty and alumni. The Campus Computing Project’s 2005 National Survey of Information Technology in Higher Education revealed an increasing utilization of e-portfolios in higher education for the third straight year, with implementations reported in over 25 percent of four-year institutions. Folio encourages students to organize and share their learning achievements across a secure browser interface with selected individuals. Folio has been developed for the Web with full Internet accessibility and is highly configurable, allowing the student or other owners of the portfolio to control which items are visible to different viewers. The ability to present the information in different formats for different audiences ensures that the e-portfolio fulfills the needs for personal development, personal achievement, and curriculum vitae for students, faculty and the alumni.
“It is gratifying to see the fruit of our partnership with Jenzabar,” said Joseph A. Chalmers, CEO of ePortaro. “The Folio solution addresses a growing trend in higher education and matches up well with Jenzabar’s initiative to enhance their products and add value to their clients’ user experiences. Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management strategy has complemented our direction, providing an ideal foundation for the expanded use of electronic portfolios in the education market.”
“Jenzabar is committed to responding to our clients’ needs by bringing them cutting edge solutions to improve student services,” said Robert A. Maginn, Chairman and CEO of Jenzabar, Inc. “Extending our Total Campus Management framework was the goal of our partnership with ePortaro, as part of an ongoing effort to enhance our systems with industry-leading innovations and state-of-the-art technology such as ePortaro’s electronic portfolio.”
