Jenzabar Partners with the Wisconsin Association of
Independent Colleges and Universities
WAICU Educational Technology Consortium Selects Jenzabar Solutions
Cambridge, MA — October 17, 2005 — Jenzabar, Inc., the pioneer of Total Campus Management (TCM) solutions for higher education, has established an agreement with the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) to provide the Jenzabar EX ERP System, Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution (JICS) and Jenzabar’s Learning Management System (LMS) to a group of member institutions as part of a ground-breaking effort to organize these members through a common administrative platform to the consortium.. The Association also has licensed the Jenzabar Executive Dashboard to help these member schools’ administrators track key performance indicators. WAICU selected Jenzabar after an extensive three-year process in which the colleges and universities came to agreement on 54,000 requirements. Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management framework was endorsed as the best solution in meeting the needs of the initial member schools.
The Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) is engaged in a six-year process to perform the administrative support functions of its 20 members on a collaborative basis with the object of controlling college costs. The Congressional report, The College Cost Crisis, called WAICU’s efforts “transformative.” A top priority of the WAICU project was the joint purchase, implementation, and support of a common administrative system. WAICU President Dr. Rolf Wegenke explained, “A common system not only gives the participating colleges a more powerful system at a better price than they would achieve on their own, but it also establishes the shared infrastructure which is fundamental for future collaborations.”
“WAICU takes the position that it is not about the technology, but about the way the technology can position the colleges to achieve their strategic vision. In selecting Jenzabar, we are confident that we have the opportunity to be visionary,” Wegenke said.
As a key component of Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management, the Jenzabar EX solution offers a complete suite of integrated software applications designed to support a wide range of functional areas including student services, institutional research, financial and business management, human resources and payroll, communications, and development. Jenzabar EX stores all administrative information on a single integrated database, eliminating the need to enter data more than once—and eliminating the concern that some offices may be using outdated or incomplete information. Jenzabar EX also brings the powerful functionality and flexibility that are crucial to helping institutions facilitate the flow of information, maximize efficiency, and support strategic initiatives. Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution provides anytime, anywhere access to ERP functions though a secure, role-based portal that also delivers Jenzabar’s Executive Dashboard directly to campus executives’ desktops.
Jenzabar's Learning Management System (LMS) provides tools and strategies to supplement traditional classroom learning. The system also can be used for distance or online education models. Accessing the LMS through the JICS portal enables announcements and updates, Web links, threaded discussion and real-time chat. JICS also can link an institution’s ERP system to its LMS providing students and faculty with course information, schedules, and class rosters.
Jenzabar received support from Microsoft® representatives as Jenzabar EX is built around Microsoft’s SQL Server database. “We are very confident that the Jenzabar solution, which is based on Microsoft technology infrastructure components, is the right solution for the colleges and universities that comprise WAICU’s Educational Technology Consortium,” said Nancy Foerstel, Consortia Engagement Manager for Microsoft Corp. “Jenzabar and Microsoft share WAICU’s vision and look forward to working with the consortium and its member institutions to create a model and a new paradigm for the role of technology collaboration in higher education.”
“There are three colleges—Lakeland College, Ripon College, and Wisconsin Lutheran College—in the first round of implementations, but a large number of other colleges are watching the process closely. I am confident that the collaboration will grow,” Wegenke continued. In addition to the WAICU Educational Technology Consortium, Jenzabar maintains several other strong client relationships in the State of Wisconsin.
“Jenzabar is proud to have been selected through a rigorous national competition to be an integral partner in this pioneering collaboration,” said Robert A. Maginn Chairman and CEO of Jenzabar, Inc. “Our Total Campus Management framework will serve the WAICU schools well and support the consortium’s vision for controlling costs through a consolidated administrative system. We are honored to be a part of the WAICU Educational Technology Consortium, and we look forward to a lasting and productive relationship with WAICU and its participating member institutions.
