Avila College Jumps to Jenzabar EX for Integration,
Internet, and Cost Value
CAMBRIDGE, MA-May 30, 2002-Avila College sought to
revamp its computer services. The college's students and faculty
had no access to their data, the college's offices were not integrated,
and its systems were not particularly user-friendly. To solve these
not uncommon problems, the college chose the Jenzabar EX product.
Avila's Vice President of Administration and Finance, Paul Bookmeyer,
explained the college's reasons for choosing Jenzabar EX. "Being
a Jenzabar customer allowed us to have prior knowledge of Jenzabar's
products. This also made the purchase very price competitive. From
a cost point of view, EX is a great value.
"EX also brings a degree of integration, user-friendliness,
and Web presence that Avila is seeking," Bookmeyer added.
While not a primary concern, implementation and data
conversion factored into Avila's choice of EX. Bookmeyer explained,
"Jenzabar has some 20 POISE conversions to EX, so we knew it
would be easier to switch systems." The Jenzabar EX Implementation
at Avila will begin as soon as possible. The first training meeting
takes place in April.
Avila is also looking forward to implementing Jenzabar
EX's Web features. Currently Avila has no Web services for students
other than an online admissions form. "We are looking to provide
student access to their data online," Bookmeyer stated. "Using
Web features, we will improve data access for all constituents,
including faculty, students, and staff."
"Jenzabar EX is a complete, and reasonably mature
product designed for schools our size. We feel it will be quite
successful," Bookmeyer concluded.
About Avila College
Avila College is a dynamic, Catholic, four-year liberal
arts and pre-professional college sponsored and founded by the Sisters
of St. Joseph of Carondelet, which offers a broad range of studies,
from business and corporate communications to allied health and
education, to name just a few.
Avila offers nearly 40 undergraduate degree programs
and three graduate degree programs, many of which were the first

and social work. Avila is also the first and currently the only
four-year Kansas City college to offer a paralegal program approved
by the American Bar Association. Avila is one of only 23 colleges
and universities in the entire country that offer a four-year degree
in radiologic technology. And it offers the only accredited bachelor's
