Jenzabar Solution A "Spectacular Success" for
Central Florida Community College
Jenzabar Financials Implemented on Campuses in Three Months

CAMBRIDGE, MA-September 5, 2002-Across the United States and around the world, millions of people know central Florida as a place where spectacular fireworks go off every night at Disney's Epcot Center. A short hop away from Disney World, Bill Strait, Director of Information Technology at Central Florida Community College (CFCC) in Ocala, Florida, used that very word, "spectacular," to describe the stunning success of Jenzabar's CX implementation in record time.

CFCC initiated their search for a new system to replace their aging legacy system with one that had some bells and whistles and would not break down once a week. Their old system, a homegrown COBOL mainframe system inherited from another Florida institution, contained portions that were more than 30 years old. The IT staff spent gobs of time and money making the necessary yearly changes to it, and still it really didn't work as required. Having had enough of these ongoing trials, CFCC started an RFP process to find a new system. In the end, CFCC chose Jenzabar as the unquestionable winner over all the usual competitors.

"The staff had universally rated Jenzabar's CX solution higher than all the other vendors," stated Strait. "And with that, Jenzabar's offer came in under the other final vendor's price."

Another important aspect of CFCC and Jenzabar's new partnership had to do with the State of Florida's reporting requirements. "The Florida-based Jenzabar [CX] Solution already has all the state reports available with it," Strait explained. "We don't have the extra expense of having to write all those reports. That's terrific!"

The next challenge was an extremely tight deadline for bringing the Jenzabar CX financials live on the campuses. CFCC needed to have their Financials running by July 1 so that they would have reporting from a single system for an entire fiscal year. "The Jenzabar staff bent over backwards to get the system up and running-and did so in three months," Strait commented. "From an operational standpoint, the software was in place, the tables were set up, and the system was ready to go on time-it was spectacular."
About the Jenzabar implementation process so far at CFCC, Strait summed it up by saying, "I've been through several implementations and so far this is the best by far. These people are terrific to work with."
