The Best Laid Plans...
CAMBRIDGE, MAAugust 7, 2001Not all that
long ago, four administrators at Campbellsville University were
nearly at their wits' end; the installation of their then-current
business software had not gone as planned.
It might even be fair to say that they could make
neither head nor tail of it.
"The reports included with the product had not been
configured," Maria R. Medley, Director of Information Services for
Campbellsville, states. "We experienced high turnover in the Business
Office. All reports were generated either through Microsoft Access
or completed by hand. The Business Office was not able to provide
timely reports to departments, Executive Staff, or the Board of
Trustees. Also, the implementation project had gotten off track
by one year."
Realizing that they needed to take action and quickly,
Campbellsville established a fact-finding committee to explore alternative
software options. In addition to Medley, the committee consisted
of the Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Comptroller,
and the Assistant Comptroller. "Employees from each administrative
area (based on the modules being considered) were invited to attend
the product demonstrations and share their thoughts," Medley observes.
The President and Board of Trustees had final approval.
On May 23, 2001, Campbellsville selected 10 of the
18 modules that comprise the Jenzabar TEAMS Elite™ software.
"TEAMS Elite is a completely integrated product, designed
for Higher Education use," Medley notes. "The ease of use of the
software, the sales staff, and the company's commitment to our timeline
aided the decision-making process."
On July 5, 43 days after contract signing, Campbellsville
and Jenzabar personnel had the General Ledger, Purchasing, and Accounts
Payable modules up and running!
Sounds as if this particular plan is on track.
